Aim for Seva
AIM for Seva

"We are both consumers and contributors.
Our maturity lies in our capacity to contribute more than we consume.
That is why a renunciate who works for the welfare of society is respected.
AIM for Seva gives you an opportunity to contribute and
be a part of a Movement of Seva committed to make
a difference in the lives of millions, especially in India."

- Swami Dayanand Saraswati

AIM for Seva is committed to a vision of caring. If a part of your body is hurting, you will care for it. In India, no village should be considered as too remote to be cared for. The rural and tribal populations of India have long safeguarded India's rich cultural legacy, resonant of India's ancient traditions. These traditions and forms must be shielded from the pressures of modernization and be protected for future generations. For centuries, the people of the mountains and forests have lived on what nature has provided without disturbing the ecological balance. The cultural forms of the people living in remote and tribal areas - be it dance, music, or religious ritual - have an inherently harmonious foundation. These forms are in danger of being lost or forgotten. When there is no dialogue, no connection, no caring between people living in urban and remote areas, the villagers stay isolated and their existence is in danger. It is imperative to bridge this gap while still maintaining and supporting the cultural traditions. AIM for Seva has recognized that this can be done only by enhancing the lifestyles of the people who uphold them. The health of the nation improves with the improvement in the health of these people. The theme of cultural preservation is the guiding philosophy that is the foundation of all programs in AIM for Seva.

For the first time in the history of India, the heads of ancient religious institutions and ashrams (places of spiritual retreat) throughout the country have come together under one umbrella organization called Acharya Sabha to provide a flow of caring and much-needed aid from mainstream society to isolated people in remote, tribal and neglected areas of India.

Inspired and coordinated by Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a traditional teacher of Vedanta and eminent Sanskrit scholar, the Acharya Sabha is encouraging those of all faiths from all areas of the world to contribute towards caring programs for these people. For this purpose the Acharya Sabha has instituted a Trust under the chairmanship of Shri R. Venkatraman, Former President of India, having scope over entire Bharat, called AIM for Seva to provide a conduit for the free flow of care through an encompassing program in education, health, self-sufficiency and cultural validation.

AIM for Seva is an All India Movement that seeks to bridge the gap between mainstream and marginal sections of the society. Spearheaded by Sri Swami Dayananda, and instituted by the Acharya Sabha in November 2000, AIM for Seva has developed caring programmes in the areas of education, health, and cultural validation of people living in remote villages and tribal areas. In the first year itself, AIM for Seva has firmly established its roots in many parts of India. AIM for Seva's unique approach to social change is to view humanity as one living organism. Just as our extremities cannot be considered remote from the rest of our body, no part of the country can be considered remote from another. The health of the 'marginalised' areas is vital for the functioning and well-being of the society as a whole.
