Dr. Jichkar given Special Honours from H.H. Shankaracharya
 

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the Peetharohan of Pujya Shri Jayendra Saraswati as the Sankaracharya of Kanchi on …(date) Dr Shrikant Jichkar was accorded Special Honours and Felicitations at Madras (Chennai). Pujya Sankaracharya draped Dr Jichkar in a silken zari shawl and also placed a gold chain round his neck. A Gold medal was also given to him with a citation for the work he was doing amongst the hilly tribes in remote areas of (where—which State).

Dr Shrikant Jichkar was also the National Co-ordinator of AIM for SEVA. Started by Swami Dayananda Saraswati AIM for SEVA is a Rs 1,000 crore Trust with former President R.Venkatraman as its Chairman and all the five Sankaracharyas as its Trustees. The Trust is working at 400 places in the country, right from Mana Pass on the Indo-Tibet border to remote areas of Kanyakumari in the south of the country. Almost all religious leaders in this country are associated with this movement of Seva. Prominent among them are Dr.Pranav Pandya of Gayatri Parivar; Sri.Sri. Ravishankar of Art of Living, Pramukh Swami of Swaminarayan Sampradaya; Mata Amritanandmayi Trust; Santram Temple, Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams, Swami Avadheshanad Giri Mahamandaleshwar among others.

The Seva movement has three tiers. The Mathadhipati Sabha consists of all the Mathadipatis (who have a tradition of at least 200 years), Mandaleshwars and Mahamandaleshwars and Dharma Sanstha Pramukhs. The movement works in remote areas to build schools, hostels, hospitals and dispensaries and approach roads etc and also provides services like drinking water etc.
